Course aims

  • Understand sociological theories, research studies and the methods used to collect data
  • Explore topics which reflect diversity in contemporary society
  • Gain an understanding of society’s influence on the individual
  • Gain an understanding of their role in society
  • Develop analytical skills

Entry requirements

Interest in the experiences and viewpoints of others. Students are expected to have achieved a minimum of a Grade 5 or above in both GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature. Excellent literacy skills are necessary to express complex arguments in a new, highly conceptual subject.
